The Samsung LED TV Series

Some of the most desirable and visually stunning televisions (in terms of both picture quality and aesthetics) available to buy today have to be the Samsung LED TV series. The technology that lies behind the advancements made by these new sets when compared with previous LCD televisions is the introduction of LEDs as a lighting source.

This might sound a bit far stretched that using LEDs to light the LCD display rather than ‘conventional’ fluorescent lamps has brought about the improvements seen in these TV sets. But the implications of using LEDs goes further than providing the back or side lighting because properties of LEDs has brought about improvements with colour reproduction, contrast levels, physical designs energy efficiency.

Samsung LED TVs are some of the thinnest and most stylish TV sets available, this is made possible by the physical size of LEDs. They are much smaller than the fluorescent lamps they replace and so allow for the design of super thin displays with some sets measuring in at a tiny 1.2 inches thick.

The properties of light produced by LEDs coupled with the advanced colour processing technology in Samsungs LED TVs produces natural colours resulting in stunning pictures. The lighting system that uses the LEDs produces what Samsung describe as mega contrast, producing the darkest blacks and brightest whites. Combined with auto-motion plus 120hz flicker free technology, fast moving images are flawlessly reproduced.

To satisfy the ever increasingly environmentally conscious market, Samsung have also been able to make this their most energy efficient range of televisions. This is largely due to the fact that LEDs use less energy to produce light and so use up to 40% less power than previous equivalent models. Other innovations include the use of materials in the manufacture of the televisions that are kinder to the planet such as lead and mercury free components.

All of the features and benefits that come with the Samsung range of LED televisions have a slight premium attached. However this is to be expected with any new technology until the popularity and mass manufacturing process drives down the end user price. However, considering the money savings provided by the improved energy efficiency alone, without even mentioning any of the other benefits then the Samsung range of LED TVs still look a very attractive choice.
