The Perfect Pair of Pretty Pumps for Parties
The prettiest dresses deserve the prettiest shoes; something bright or something sexy to add the extra oomph to your ensemble. Whether that’s wedge heels or stilettos the right shoe can make or break an outfit. Choose a shoe which is too glamorous and no one will notice that fabulous dress. Pick a shoe that is too understated and it won’t add anything special to the aesthetic. So, while that shoe may seem fabulous when you buy it, be sure it’s the right shoe for the right do.
When it comes to pumps they can often be too understated for evening wear. That doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of different styles of pumps that can be worn with your prom dress or cocktail gown. Sometimes a shorter heel is exactly what you need, as a matter of fact. Stiletto shoes can be fun and sexy, but they can also be difficult to walk in. This is a great reason to go with a shorter heel; a pump.
Choosing a pump for an evening gown or cocktail dress isn’t as difficult as it might seem. There are some things to remember; fancier is better, be careful with the type of heel, leather and satin or silk is better than any types of manmade materials.
A pump needs to be even more formal than a stiletto because a stiletto has a naturally more formal bend. Choose pumps that have embellishments like rhinestones or a specific color like silver or gold. Sequins are another good choice for a great looking pump to match a party dress.
When it comes to heels, steer clear of cork, rubber and uncovered wood. The best type of heel is one that matches the upper or is covered in a different color/style that’s supposed to work with that particular shoe design. Choose anything uncovered and the shoe will be too casual. There are exceptions of course, but they are few and far between.
Satin or silk can usually be dyed to match a dress, that can be crucial to finding a perfect shoe for an unusually colored dress. For example, bridesmaids should be fairly uniformed in appearance, it’s a great idea if they’re wearing a red to get red wedge shoes to match – dying is the answer to that problem and a pair of silk or satin pumps is made for the purpose.
In short, go for a shorter heel for that fancy dress; just keep in mind that not all heels are made the same. Dress it up, not down.
