The Latest in Toaster Technology

Although the humble little toaster has been sitting on kitchen counters around the world for many years, the technology of these little gadgets haven’t changed all that much in all this time.  The reason why is because it doesn’t take a whole lot to toast bread.  All you need is a heating element to be near the bread, and eventually it will turn into toast.  While the basic functions of toasters hasn’t changed all that much, certain features have been added in recent years that weren’t available before.  In addition to more functions, the exterior styling of the toasters has come a long way as well.

As far as technology goes, here are some of the features that the best toasters offer today.  First, some toasters have a self-centering function that automatically positions the bread into the center so that it browns evenly.  This function was added to prevent some parts of the bread from turning black while other parts weren’t even toasted at all!  A second function that some toasters have is a lever that you can pull to push the toast up high enough to grab.  We’ve all been in the situation before where we try to get the toast out, and it is stuck below the top.  This can be quite a pain in the neck.  The little lever pushes the toast up above the top.

As for new toaster styles, some manufacturers have been altering the basic shapes of these appliances. You can now get a single slot toaster that can fit four slices of bread, all in one line.  Some people love this long and slender design.  Another new style addition is the addition of bright colored toasters.  Instead of getting stuck with the same old black or white models, you can now choose a yellow toaster to brighten up your kitchen instead.
