Should You Buy a Rule Pool Cover Pump?

If you are in the market for a pool cover pump, you may have considered a Rule pool cover pump. This type of pump is widely available and seem like it is growing in popularity. So why is this pump a good choice for you?

The Rule H53SP24 pump has a straining base that prevents the unit from getting clogged. This helps ensure the pump will work properly, and will allow you to pump water off your pool cover even if it has leaves and other debris floating in the water that needs to be removed.

Another great thing about this pump is how quickly it works. It works at a speed of 1800 gallons per hour, which is a pretty efficient rate.

The Rule pump also is computerized. It can be left on the cover of you pool and it checks the water level every two and a half minutes. When water is detected it begins pumping. It also comes with a 25 ft cord, and is also designed to shut down before any damage happens to the unit. The only downside to this pump is that is will cost around $175, depending on where you buy the pump.

If you are looking for a pump that is less expensive but will still get the job done, the Little Giant PCP 550 pool cover pump could be a good alternative. This pump will cost about fifty dollars less than the Rule pump. It is a smaller device, and doesn’t work as quickly. It pumps at 550 gallons per hour. It also isn’t automatic, there is no sensor to determine when it needs to start pumping. In fact, there isn’t even an on/off switch. You simply plug it in and it starts working. It also comes with a 25 ft power cord, and a garden hose adapter.

So really, it all depends on how much money you want to spend, and how quickly you want the job done.
