Shopping for Blue Bedding

If you have decided to buy blue bedding, you are in good company. Blue is one of the most popular colors around. It means you will have a lot of choice whether you are buying separate items, or complete bedding ensembles. There are a few things you need to decide, however, before you go shopping.

1. Which Shade of Blue Bedding?

There are many shades of blue and each one has quite a different character. You just have think about the turquoise of a swimming pool in summer, the mid blue of faded denim jeans and dark inky navy blue of a night sky to realize that. So before you go shopping you should have an idea in mind of the kind of look you are aiming for.

2. Include Another Color? Which Color or Colors?

It can be useful to include another color or colors along with your chosen blue to create a particular look. For example if you add cream or yellow to mid blue, you will get a fresh yet still warm look. If you add red and white to navy, you have a nautical theme! You don’t need to decide on an exact color scheme before you look around, as you will often find inspiration in what you see, but at least have some ideas of the kind of combinations you might like to use and the feeling you are trying to create with them.

3. Which items of Bedding?

You need to know the size of your bed and the items that you are looking for whether that is flat or fitted sheets, duvet cover or comforter, pillow shams and bed skirt.

4. Price or Budget

Bedding differs greatly in price with full bedding sets ranging from less than $100 to well over $500. Set a budget in advance so that you don’t get carried away when you are shopping and spend too much. Of course, to a certain extent you get what you pay for so don’t set your budget too low either!
