Pick Solar Over Gas To Heat Your Pool

You might think that if you live in South Florida that you wouldn’t need to heat your swimming pool. Wrong! I was born in raised in Buffalo, but I’ve been living in South Florida for 13 years. I still wouldn’t get into my pool from October to May unless I had a solar cover. It has made a world of difference in the amount of use we get from our pool.

Before we purchased our solar cover, we priced the gas pool heater too. The cost savings of the solar was going to be considerable over the long haul. Once the solar pool cover is in place and paid for there are no more expenses. With the gas heater, there would be a constant drain on the utility bill. But the bigger problem in our area was that gas was not even an option. There are no gas lines in my neighborhood. The cost to have them installed was going to be astronomical making it not possible.

Solar pool covers are so easy to put into place. Once it’s installed, it’s on a roller making it very simple to put on and take off the pool. And it’s lightweight so it’s not a cumbersome job to move it. Another benefit of the solar cover is that it helps keep leaves and such from getting into the pool. It makes keeping the pool clean much easier.

I think the biggest benefit of the solar over the gas is that the solar isn’t causing any more stress on the environment. With all the talk about our “carbon footprint” and making use of “renewable resources”, it only makes sense to do the right thing for world by going with the solar as opposed to the gas pool heater. I want to leave the world in better shape for my grandchildren than it is now. I feel good about the solar heater option for my pool because I know it’s better for environment.
