Opal Rings A Magnificent Stone

Opal rings offer a unique beauty that is unlike any other natural gemstone. Though some people that do not know a whole lot about the lovely gemstone, might sometimes mistake it for pearls, there is an iridescence to opal jewelry that pearls can never possess.

This unique, shimmering quality, is what makes opal so unique. Your opal rings will be eye catching, and unique to you. These qualities draw collectors to opal rings and other opal jewelry. There is so much beauty that can be found in these items. This is why you should include these lovely rings in your personal ring collection. You will get a lot of wear out of these items, and you will receive a lot of compliments. There is no other stone like opal. It has the natural ability to look like a variety of different shades at any given time. You will see that an opal will sometimes take on the tones of pink, and green in certain shades of outdoor light. Indoors, you might see hints of blue, and hints of bright fuchsia.

Many people call opal, “the rainbow stone,” for these reasons. It can be somewhat hard to believe that opals are a natural stone, since they seem to take on so many spectacular qualities, but they are a natural stone. Most of today’s opals are mined from Australia. Most of these opals have been forming since the Earth started forming. This makes opals a treasure to own, and a meaningful joy to give someone else!

Opal was formed first during the first major continental shift. Waters over-swept the landmasses of that time. Silica – a naturally occurring mineral in the oceanic water – infiltrated the holes and cracks of the sedimentary rock, present on these landmasses. Time forced the silica to become a jelly-like substance. That gel then hardened to form opals. In essence, opal is the presence of the transformed silica into gel, present in the cracks of sedimentary rocks. Opals electrifying and beautiful qualities are completely natural.

Because opal comes from a naturally occurring gel, that is resting in rock crevices, each stone is unique. Each one of the opal rings that is created, is as special as the process that created it. Opal can come in many shades. It can naturally range from dark to light colors. Some colors are more rare than others. For example, black opals are the most valuable variety of the gemstone, since they are not as common.
