Keep yourself warm with Down Jackets
One of the best jackets one can buy if you’re serious about staying warm in cold weather or in the snow is down jackets. It’s always better to use a natural fiber or product when buying these jackets.
Down is a product that comes from a bird and it is in fact the breast feathers, or downy feathers, from the breast of a bird, most usually a duck. Such a fine natural product is made due to the air space which provides the required insulation and then the thermal properties which helps one of the warmest and finest products to be made.
However it’s quite difficult to clean these jackets. In the first place they should be dry cleaned, however if you prefer to maintain these jackets on your own then this has to be done with care. All the pockets should be emptied.
Next it needs to be washed it in a washing machine. Ensure that the machine is without the center spindle or the piece that goes around creating the washing motion and disturbing the water. Center spindle of the washing machine can damage the down in your down jacket, washing it too hard.
Only the gentle cycle should be turned on while washing the down jackets.
Excess water should be allowed to drip out or squeeze gently, then lay it down and press with a clean towel to remove excess water. Next step should be done only when excess water is removed.
Down jackets can be dried outside in warm weather as long as it isn’t too windy or too hot, or in a dryer, but again not too hot. Once the procedure for washing and drying is over it’s ready to keep you warm on the coldest of days all over again. So anytime you plan to buy this jacket or already possess one, do keep in mind these steps to maintain it.
