Casio Music Keyboards Versus Other Brands
There are several companies such as Yamaha and Roland that specialize in digital music instruments and gear. For digital music keyboards they are specialists but Casio, and electronics company, also has a line of music keyboards, and typically at a lower price than the other manufacturers. Here is a look at how Casio keyboards compare to the other music instrument brands.
Casio has a history as a manufacturer of electronic devices such as watches and cameras, but they also have a solid line of digital music keyboard instruments, in some cases being one of the few manufacturers of certain types of music keyboards. The lighted keys keyboard is one example. Only Casio and Yamaha make lighted key keyboard instruments. These are great for beginners who want to learn to play the built-in songs, especially for visual learners. Casio also makes the mini keyboard, and so far is the only company that makes one. It’s intended for children and looks more like a toy, but it can be useful as a highly portable keyboard to take with you to plunk out your notes for choir if you’re away from a piano.
Casio also makes quality digital pianos. These instruments are full sized 88 key keyboards with high-quality piano sounds, weighted keys that imitate the playing action of acoustic pianos, built-in speakers, and 3 pedals all built into a wood cabinet. You’ll also find the same functionality as the other brands such as multiple instrument sounds, MIDI recording, digital effects such as reverb, and some models also have song styles to play along with. Casio also has stage digital pianos which are more portable but also have the same piano feel and sound as the wood cabinet models.
The arranger keyboard is probably one that is purchased by more consumers, and Casio has various models in this category. The Casio arrangers will all have the same functionality as the other brands such as a wide selection of instrument sounds, song styles, and built-in songs. Casio also claims to have workstation keyboards but these are actually just arrangers with very limited synthesizer capabilities.
Overall, the arrangers and digital pianos that Casio makes are quite comparable to those made by the “bigger” brands in terms of functionality but may not be as good in terms of sound quality. Still, with a Casio music keyboard you can have a good quality instrument that can do what the other brands can at a much lower price.
